Publish Open Access with Scandinavian University Press

Scandinavian University Press (Universitetsforlaget) publishes open access research journals and books on Idunn.

Publishing an open access journal with us means that all its content, including research articles, is published openly online, free of charge to authors and readers worldwide. Scandinavian University Press currently publishes over 30 gold open access journals. As publishers of Nordic research of a high academic quality, we focus on:

  • setting the same high standards for quality in peer review, editorial processes, visual design and publishing services as for all other journals we publish; and

  • seamlessly administering the rights of the author in accordance with Norwegian copyright law, and with the selected Creative Commons license governing the potential for third parties’ further use of the published article.

There are several different forms of open access, the two most common being gold and green. Scandinavian University Press publishes journals in both these forms:

  • Gold open access means that the journal’s published version of an article is freely available in digital format from the date of publication, without payment, registration or login restrictions of any kind.

  • Green open access means that authors can archive the post-print version in their employer’s open archive. Post-print refers to the version of an article which the journal’s editors have approved for publication, prior to the publisher’s editing (copyediting, layout, proofing, file conversion, etc.). We use green open access for all subscription journals published by us, and archiving can take place immediately after the final version is published on Idunn (no restrictions).

We also publish open access books
