Rune Sakslind is Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the University of Bergen.

His prime interest and research are comparative studies of Norwegian culture and institutions in an international perspective, on several societal levels and -fields: Industrial organisation, educational systems, class cultures and -relationships. He has also worked extensively with sociological theory and methodology, both as part of his teaching at the Department of Sociology, and in a recurrent work of clarifying the theory and methodology essential to the integration of historical and comparative perspectives in sociology.
